Name Game

An hour later they went into the rec room; a bunch of kids were already there watching television, playing various games, and chatting.

Rouge “So, lets get started. Over there watchin the tv is Sam Guthrie aka Cannonball, his sister Paige or Husk. Remy LeBebeau better known as Gambit, and Jonothon Starsmore, Chamber.

The girls talkin in the corner are Alison Blair, Dazzler, Jubilee, and Kitty Pryde, Shadowcat. Sittin there playin the board games are Peter Rasputin Colossus, Bobby Drake you know him as Ice Man, Kurt Wagner the blue fuzzy Nightcrawler, Alison Crestmere, Magma, Illyana, Peter’s sister, Magik and Danielle Moonstar.

These are about all the students our age, Peter and Illyana were the last newbees here and they came about a month ago.”

They move out to the lawns and start walking.

“You’ll also meet all the instructors on Monday but they are Jean Grey, Cyclops, Beast, Psylock, Emma Frost, Banshee, Northstar, and Wolverine when he’s here. That’s not very often but in training, there are only two students that have beaten him and that is Colossus and me. I had a harder time than Peter though, but when you can just stand there like a mountain and take it you would.”

Sarah “How? What are his powers?”
Rouge “He can transform his entire body into solid steel, let me tell you, it really hurts to be punched by about 500 lbs. of it too.”

Stefon “ I can imagine. What about…….”

Rouge “What about who?”

Sarah “He wants to know about Cai.”

Rouge “Oh! I almost forgot. He normally spends most of his day in the air. It’s good exercise from what I hear and Chris keeps him in good company.”

Stefon “I thought you said he was single?”

Rouge “He is, Chris is just his best friend. They do just about everything together.”

Stefon “Oh…”

Sarah “Well why don’t you see if he has taken off yet?”

Stefon “I am sure he has better things to then have the new kid gawk at him. Cides I think we should take Jean’s advice and wander around the grounds.”

Rouge “Well if you do then just know that on the weekends the cafeteria is always open. So when ever you get hungry the food is there. I’ll see ya’ll later.”

The twins walk down the steps off the patio and onto the lawns which are swarming with students doing all sorts of things. A few people notice them, but they are left alone. They walk past the courts and the pool out off the lawns and into the woods and gardens. They reach a clearing and find Ororo floating in a meditative state. She opens an eye and stands so her feet touch the ground.

Stefon “Sorry, we didn’t mean to disturb you.”

Ororo “No, it’s okay. Sometimes I just like to0 collect myself away from the crowds at the school. The noise and everyone being so close and cramped together makes me a bit uneasy after a while.”

Sarah “So you come out here to the big wide nothing. Do you know if there are any bodies of water around here besides the pool? Like a pond or a lake?”

Ororo “Yes, there is a waterfall not to far from here. I can show you if you want, but don’t tell to many people about it cause it is one of the other places I like to meditate.”

They walk for about fifteen minutes further in and they hear the crashing of the water against the rock below. When they clear the trees they come to a small pond that turns into a stream and the small thundering waterfall with a jagged cliff that looks as if it has had it’s better days.

Ororo “Some of the senior X-men and older students know about this place, they come here to practice with their powers without the prying eyes of others.”

Stefon “This is perfect. Sarah can practice with the water and I can use fire with out harming the wildlife.”
Sarah “Now all we need are those cute little code names like everyone else.”

Stefon looks up toward the sun.

Sarah “They can’t be tacky or a spin on anyone else’s but at the same time nothing outlandish so no one can say them.”

Stefon “Solar Flare and Solar Freeze.”

Sarah “Solar Flare and Solar Freeze, I like them, individual yet we stay connected. Awesome!”

Ororo “Well so you think that you can find your way out cause I would really like to get back and continue?”

Stefon “Yah, I remember.”

Ororo “Kay, bye.”

Before Ororo leaves, Sarah is already experimenting with her powers. She is standing in the middle of the pond and it is frozen over. Stefon bends over and touches the ice which quickly begins to melt and Sarah starts taking plunging steps trying to regain her footing and the ice makes boots around her feet.

She can feel the ice go all the way down to the bottom of the pond and she steadies herself on the ice. After she is balanced she starts taking off her outer wear to reveal a swimsuit. Stefon stands back and watches his sister taking in his surroundings.

Sarah has gotten used to the water crashing down around her and eventually walks in the falls letting it fall on her. Then she takes it and diverts the water so it makes a bubble around her so she isn’t getting wet. The water starts to flow outward and she makes two whips and they start lashing aout in front of her. Soaking her brother and then moves to stand in front of the cascade of water again and freezes it.  When she finally makes it back to shore she falls onto the small grassy beach and closes her eyes.

[Lets see you do better.]

Being totally soaked through his clothes makes Stefon a little paranoid and before he knows it a very warm feeling emanates from himself and he feels an inner fire that pulses from his core down to his hands and when he released it he had two balls of fire in at his command. He starts juggling them eventually splitting them so two turned to four and then they went from a circle to circling him. The four flames came at his body at his thought and his entire body erupts into flame. His shirt was in cinders and his pants were now shorts and the fire gleamed off his slightly defined muscles. Then the fire dispersed and he jumps high into the air and didn’t come back down.

Stefon “Whoa! It seems I can fly too!”

He makes low circles around the pond and then shoots upward and uses the fire to make the form of a phoenix finally rising above the treetops.

As he comes back down he thought he saw a flash of green in th sky, but quickly dove down and landed in the water.

After he rises from the water and dries himself off they head back to the mansion for a change of clothes and to explore a little more.

When they come back out of the mansion Stefon hopped into the air and started flying above Sarah to the poin the could see the entire grounds.

[I wish you could see this]

Stefon was too busy before taking in the view to realize that his sister was floating right next to him on a disk of ice.

[It may not be natural flight but at least I can get around.]

They soared around with each other for the next hour going over the grounds and watching all the other students go about their regular Saturday.

About one they finally got hungry and decided to go back and grab something to eat. There weren’t that many people here and when they sat down Cai and Chris were the only other two left eating.

[Why don’t you go over and talk to him?]

[You know perfectly well why not. If you don’t then just read my mind.]

[Fine, but you cant say I didn’t make you try.]

After the eat they lounge about the grounds eventually going back up to their room to continue unpacking and decorating more to each of their likings.

[So should we go back to the waterfall tomorrow?]

[I think we should cause that seems like a good way to practice without endangering anyone or having them gawking at us.]

[Ya, but this time you should defiantly bring another pair of clothes, you barely had anything on when you put yourself out.]

[Well, I didn’t know it was gonna happen. But yes you are right I should wear something else.]

A pause and they continue in silence.

[I think Cai was watching us today.]

[Why so you say that?]

[When I went above the trees ik saw a flash of the green/black that his wings are. I don’t know how long he was there or even if it was him at all.]

[Well, it looks like you have an admirer. I don’t think we’ll be bored around here.]

[No, not with all this goin on around us.]
Night fell and the mansion turned school fell quiet. But where there’s silence something lound is sure to follow.
